Ultimate Deathknight (UDK) is a Legendary Defense champion from the Undead Hordes faction in Raid: Shadow Legends. Released as part of a special event, he quickly became a fan favorite not only for his unique backstory but also for his solid performance in all areas of the game.
Built with Force affinity, he is designed to take hits for his team, support them with healing and shielding, and disrupt enemies with debuffs. His playstyle focuses on damage redirection and team protection, making him a strong choice for players who value survivability and utility.

He performs well across both PvE and PvP content. In PvE, he’s especially useful in Dungeons and Doom Tower, where his ability to soak up damage and apply key debuffs helps teams survive longer. In PvP, his passive skills can completely shut down enemy nukers by redirecting damage to himself and placing shields on allies.
However, he struggles a bit against AoE-heavy bosses and needs good gear to truly shine. His usefulness in both early and late game makes him a strong long-term investment for any account.

Ultimate Deathknight’s main strength lies in his passive skill, “Too Awesome To Die.” This ability allows him to absorb single-target attacks aimed at allies, turning dangerous hits into minor damage on himself. Combined with “Get Comfy Everyone,” which gives shields and continuous healing based on his defense, he can keep the team alive through tough fights.
His AOE skill “Rats Off To Ya” adds utility by lowering enemy attack and possibly placing Fear on Legendary enemies, while “Heckler of Legends” can Provoke single targets, especially other Legendaries.
Compared to other defense-based support champions like Vogoth or Miscreated Monster, UDK offers more reliable damage redirection but lacks strong healing or crowd control. He’s best used in teams that lack strong protection or need help surviving high-damage waves.
He works especially well with healers like Doompriest or passive supporters like Brogni. Champions who can revive, like Scyl of the Drakes or Arbiter, also make great partners, allowing him to focus fully on absorbing damage and supporting the team.

Too Awesome To Die (Passive)
Whenever an ally is attacked, has a 100% chance of completely blocking 1 hit, decreasing the incoming damage to zero. This Champion will receive that damage instead. It will also redirect any debuffs from the hit to this Champion. The chance of blocking a hit and redirecting the debuffs decreases to 50% if the attacker is a Boss. Does not work if the attack on the ally was an AoE attack.
Whenever an enemy is healed, heals this Champion by 20% of that heal.
Didn’t Need ‘Em (Passive)
Increases this Champion’s HP, DEF, and SPD by 10% for each dead ally.
Aura
Increases Ally DEF in all Battles by 30%.

Ultimate Deathknight Best Gear
When it comes to gear, Regeneration is a top choice. It heals him for 15% of his HP every turn, which works perfectly with his role of taking damage for allies. This keeps him alive longer without needing constant healing from others. It’s very helpful in long PvE battles like Doom Tower or soloing content.
Toxic gear is also a strong option, especially for solo dungeon runs. It gives him a 75% chance to place small Poison debuffs, which slowly chip away at enemy HP. Since he’s a tank and survives many rounds, this damage adds up, helping clear content faster without needing damage dealers.
In Arena, Stone Skin is the preferred set. It gives extra resistance, health, and defense while placing a Stone Skin buff for 2 turns. This makes it harder for enemies to remove or steal his buffs, and it lets him survive strong opening attacks. The buff reduces incoming damage and gives him a better chance to activate his defensive passives in PvP fights.

Ultimate Deathknight Masteries
For PvE content, masteries like Warmaster in the Offense tree help increase his damage in boss fights. Support tree masteries such as Merciful Aid, Evil Eye, Lasting Gifts, and Master Hexer boost his healing, debuff duration, and shield uptime. This setup helps him support the team while adding some extra damage.
In PvP, it’s better to go with the Defense and Support trees. Masteries like Retribution and Unshakeable improve his survivability and help him fight back when hit. Support masteries like Steadfast, Shieldbearer, Healing Savior, and Lasting Gifts strengthen his healing and shielding effects, which are key to his performance in Arena.

Ultimate Deathknight Blessings
Choosing the right blessing also depends on how you use him. Brimstone is great in PvE, as it adds a powerful Smite debuff that damages enemies based on their max HP. This helps speed up boss fights and adds extra pressure against tanky enemies.
Temporal Chains works better in PvP, especially against buff-heavy teams. It slows down enemies for every buff they have, giving your team more time to act. Since many top Arena teams rely on buff stacking, this blessing can shift the battle in your favor.
Life Harvest is useful when facing teams with revivers. It reduces enemy max HP and gives Ultimate Deathknight a turn meter boost when enemies are revived. This can help your team break revive cycles and finish off enemies more easily, especially in tough Arena battles.

How to Get Ultimate Deathknight
Ultimate Deathknight (UDK) was originally available only during a limited-time login event in 2022. He was introduced as part of a campaign to celebrate the classic Deathknight’s rise to power. From August 25 to October 27, players could collect him for free just by logging in during the event period.
Unfortunately, that event has ended, and Ultimate Death Knight is no longer available through login rewards. However, it is still possible to summon him from Ancient and Sacred Shards. While the chances are low due to the size of the champion pool, he is part of the general shard pool and can appear during any summon session.
Players who missed the event will need patience and luck if they want to add him to their roster. There is also a chance he might return in a future fusion or special event, as Plarium sometimes brings back popular champions. Until then, shard pulls remain the only way to get him.
